An Enterprise Zone is a geographically designated, economically-depressed area in which businesses can receive several substantial state tax breaks and other benefits.

California Enterprise Zones were established:
  • to stimulate economic development in certain economically distressed areas of the state
  • to stimulate business investments in areas where they are traditionally slow
  • to increase job opportunities in areas of high unemployment.

Delano Enterprise Zone
The Delano Enterprise Zone encompasses an area of approximately 10,525 acres and includes most of the area within the city limits of the City of Delano and some unincorporated areas of Kern County immediately adjacent to the City of Delano.

Benefits
The State of California offers several tax credits, deductions, and incentives that reduce the cost of hiring new employees and investing in equipment in an Enterprise Zones. These credits, deductions, and incentives apply during the 15-year life of Delano's Enterprise Zone – from Dec. 17, 2006 until Dec. 17, 2021.
